Global Handwashing Day

Friday 13 October 2017

To mark Global Handwashing Day with the theme “Our Hands, Our Future”, NOURISH’s integrated stunting prevention “Grow Together” campaign in Cambodia promotes handwashing with soap at five critical times: 1) before eating, 2) before feeding children, 3) before cooking, 4) after using the latrine, and 4) after cleaning a baby’s bottom.

Under the “Grow Together” campaign, Chenda—the young and smart character from the new children’s book developed by NOURISH—brings this simple message to rural communities in the form of a sticker. The colorful sticker is placed on home-made handwashing devices and toilets to serve as an attractive and timely reminder on when to wash hands.

With funding from USAID, the NOURISH project led by Save the Children assists the Royal Government of Cambodia in accelerating stunting reduction through multi-sectoral actions in health and nutrition, water, hygiene and sanitation, and agriculture across 565 villages in Pursat, Battambang, and Siem Reap provinces.
